TRACTAFRIC EQUIPMENT,
SUPPLYING MAJOR PROJECTS

Heavy-weight partnerships

The success of Tractafric is in part due to the quality of the partnerships it develops over the course of its history. The exclusive partnership with Caterpillar, signed in 1932, has been a determining factor. Subsequent partners over the years have strengthened the group’s reputation on the ground. Together, Tractafric and its partners supply the market with the most efficient equipment.

CATERPILLAR,
PARTNERS FROM DAY ONE

When Optorg acquires SHO in 1947, it has been 15 years since the group has enjoyed exclusive representation of Caterpillar in West Africa via its subsidiary Traction Africaine de Débardage, the future Tractafric. The 87 year-long collaboration makes Tractafric one of Caterpillar’s oldest partners.

"The Caterpillar group is without a doubt one of the most important industrial enterprises in the world. Its success is largely due to the exceptional quality of its product and its dealer network spread across the globe, to which we are proud to belong."

LEGENDARY MACHINES

Over 100 years, Tractafric’s successful history is marked by these mythical machines, masters of the hardest terrains, massively appreciated by our clients. Whether it’s their technological innovation or the logistical challenges of getting them to site, these mighty monsters have left their footprint on the history of African mecanized equipments!

THE D7G

Active in our markets since 1974, it’s one of our forester’s favourite machines! It has improved thousands of square kilometres of land in Central Africa. Many hundreds are still working on the terrain. In order to keep them running in good condition, Tractafric has set up a parts repair service which enables the complete reconditioning of old machines.

THE 789D

This haul-truck with its 300-ton capacity is an example of technical prowess: Tractafric had two construction partners make a made-to-measure model from a CAT 789 truck and Towhaul equipment. It operates in Morocco for the OCP, worldwide leader in phosphates.

THE SIXTY

One of the first Caterpillar diesel tractors. Produced from 1925 to 1931, its 60-horsepower output made it the most powerful of the range. One of the first models is still on show in Gabon, in perfect working condition.

THE D6

The caterpillar tractor was built from 1935 onwards, weighing 18 tons. The first models produced, worked on the construction sites of the Haut-Ogooué basin, during the early years of Tractafric.

THE 777G

The 100-ton capacity is for use in the Kibali mine. Due to the particularly difficult access of the site, it had to be transported in parts, the first machines of this kind used in Africa were assembled on-site by Tractafric teams.

RELIABLE PARTNERS

Over the years, Tractafric completes its range by associating with specialized constructors. The group has been the historic distributor for a variety of equipment including Poclain hydraulic cranes and excavators, Albaret compactors, Tree Farmer logging materials and Porthos rough-terrain equipment. Today, with partners such as Manitou, Powerscreen, Husqvarna, Weiler, Allied Systems, Sullair, Massey Ferguson and AGCO, Tractafric is able to offer a complete range of solutions to clients.
